Honor Oak is a suburban area located in the Borough of Lewisham within South East London. The area's name originates from an event which took place on 1st May 1602, when Queen Elizabeth I picnicked with Sir Richard Bulkeley of Beaumaris in the Lewisham area by an Oak tree at the summit of a hill. This tree then became known as the Oak of Honor. Honor Oak is said to be a hidden gem within London, with charming tree-lined streets and a mix of both Victorian and Edwardian homes, it is the perfect location for young families and professionals alike.

With a buzzing shopping street along Honor Oak Park, locals are treated to an array of cuisines to choose from, including Caribbean, Indian, French and Italian, as well as some quaint specialty shops, independent stores, cafes and grocery stores. The area also benefits from a farmers' market on Saturdays, a Butterfly house, a nine-hole course at Aquarius Golf Club, some fun Museums and more.

There aren't many schools directly in the location, however, adjacent neighbourhoods have some great education options for parents to choose from, this includes, Little Cubs Academy Preschool & Nursery Forest Hill, St Francesca Cabrini Primary School, Honor Oak Preschool, Fairlawn Primary School and Eliot Bank School.

Transport

Residents can find the London Overground service at Honor Oak Park Station (Travel Zone 3), where they can board trains travelling to surrounding areas and into central London in around 30 minutes. Buses are also available for local travel in this location.
