Palmers Green benefits from a a strong community spirit, Edwardian homes with gardens, and an easy commute into Central London. It is home to the largest Cypriot community outside Cyprus, and is known for its community market as well as a variety of Turkish shops. Families especially are attracted to this area, seeking more space for their money than they can find in areas like Crouch End and Muswell Hill.

Community

This is an area with a lot of staying power - a place families move to as they grow, and put down roots. There is a very strong community feel, and there is an active community website and a regular community market. Palmers Green also hosts the largest Cypriot community outside Cyprus. Residents note that it has a village community feel, and numerous active community groups. 

Safety

Palmers Green is a family area with a safe feel. The general area's crime rate is ranked average by the Met police. Both the crime rate and the violence against the person rates were lower in Palmers Green ward than in London overall. 

Parking

Palmers Green is a relatively easy and inexpensive place to park a car. More people than the London average own a car here, with an rate of one car per household. 

Nightlife

Decidedly a family area, and not a nightlife destination - still, there are some great pubs, several of which offer music nights and are open late at the weekend. The area is well served by buses, for travel to surrounding areas with more late-night entertainment on offer. 

Family Friendly

Palmers Green is very much a family area, where there are many large family houses available at a relative bargain, compared to other North London suburbs. Schools are generally good, with varied choices ranging from a Catholic High School for girls to above-average comprehensives. There are numerous lovely parks in this area, including Broomfield Park, and walks along the Pymme's Brook and the New River. The largest age group in the area is under 20, and a high proportion of residents are children aged 0-15. 

Pet Friendly

Many of the houses in this area are larger family homes with gardens. There are also numerous lovely parks in this area, including Broomfield Park, and walks along the Pymme's Brook and the New River - making this an excellent place to own a dog. 

Transport

This area is well-served by overground train stations, as well as buses. Grange Park (Zone 5), Winchmore Hill and Palmers Green (Zone 4), and Bowes Park (Zone 3) will get commuters into Central London in around half an hour.
