Bounds Green Area Guide

Bounds Green, North London

Fabulous3.9

Living in

Bounds Green is a North London suburb with comparatively large and affordable Victorian and Edwardian terraces, good transport links, and a mix of families and young professionals. It's a diverse neighbourhood with a large Greek and Turkish population (and great Cypriot groceries and restaurants). Bounds Green and next door Wood Green have long been overlooked and dismissed as less posh versions of Muswell Hill, but Bounds Green is authentic North London at its best.

Community

There is a large community of Greeks and Turks in Bounds Green, and locals describe it as a very friendly place to live - especially in comparison to neighbouring Muswell Hill.

Safety

Solidly suburban, middle-class London, with some of the usual antisocial behaviour incidents for a major city, but residents mostly say they feel safe here.

Parking

The North Circular road can make Bounds Green pretty congested, but residential parking should not be a major issue. A little more than half of residents do not have a car.

Nightlife

Bound Green doesn't have much in the way of nightlife, although it has several pubs. It is well connected, however, and nearby Wood Green has a few more late-night destinations.

Family Friendly

Bounds Green is certainly considered a family area, with many large family homes available for comparatively affordable prices. Parents do struggle with the performance of state schools in the area, some of whom are judged merely 'satisfactory' by Ofsted. There are good recreation facilities nearby, especially tenniss courts, at the Albert Road Recreation Ground.

Pet Friendly

Alexandra Park is nearby for green space, and much of the houses available are large by London standards.

Transport

Bowes Park and Alexandra Palace are on the Overground to Moorgate. The area is served by the Piccadilly Line, with some lovely Art Deco stations. Wood Green and Alexandra Palace are in Zone 3, and Bounds Green and Bowes Park are on the boundary of Zones 3/4. It's a quick journey into central London.
