West Hendon is a small area of North West London that has recently been targeted for regeneration. The wider Hendon area is multicultural, green, and well-connected. This area particularly attracts families, because in addition to its other amenities, its schools are good, and it is a safe place to live.

Community

West Hendon is home to a large estate that is, somewhat controversially, undergoing regeneration. The estate's residents are passionate about where they live. Hendon as a whole is a family area with significant Jewish and Indian communities, contributing to a sense of community in the neighbourhood.

Safety

The 2014/2015 crime rate in West Hendon ward was slightly higher than the overall London crime rate, but the violence against the person rate was slightly lower. The Met police rates the area, as well as the wider surrounding area, as having average crime. There is a police college in Hendon. 

Parking

Parking in West Hendon is relatively easy and affordable. The rate of car ownership in this area is fairly high, with about one car per household. Hendon in general has excellent road links, as it is situated along the M1 and the North Circular. This is one of the better places in London to own a car. 

Nightlife

Hendon has a good selection of pubs and restaurants, and even a bar and club or two. There are good transport links to places with busier nightlife, including night buses. 

Family Friendly

West Hendon and Hendon are family areas. There is a very good selection of high-performing schools in Hendon, including private Jewish schools and a prep school. Much of the property available is spacious, and offers a garden. Hendon Park, Brent Park, Sunny Hill Park, the Windsor Open Space, and the Copthall Playing Fields are all at your doorstep. About 1 in 5 residents of Hendon is a child aged 0-15. 

Pet Friendly

Hendon Park, Brent Park, Sunny Hill Park, the Windsor Open Space...there is an abundance of green and open space in this area of London. Much of the property available is spacious, and offers a garden. This would be a great place to own a dog. 

Transport

West Hendon has good transport connections, particularly for an area on the boundary of zones 3 and 4. Hendon Central station is located in Zone 3/4, and is on the Northern Line. Hendon railway station provides Thameslink services. The area is very well served by local buses, including 24/7 buses. Hendon has excellent road links, as it is situated along the M1 and the North Circular.
