Living in

Canonbury is an area of Islington that is known for its beautiful Regency architechture, residential feel, and convenient location near Upper Street and the West End. Both young professional singles and families enjoy this area, which is brimming with arts and culture, restaurants and bars, and charming boutiques. Canonbury also enjoys excellent transport links and a very central location, particularly for City workers.

Community

A residential area with numerous beloved neighbourhood pubs and hangouts, as well as many families, there is potential to feel you're joining a community when you move to Canonbury. 

Safety

An upscale residential part of London, it's not a particularly dangerous area. The crime rate, as well as the violence against the person rate, are roughly level with London as a whole, and lower than the borough rate. Residents mostly report feeling safe in this neighbourhood. 

Parking

Parking in Canonbury will be easiest for those with resident parking permits. About half as many people have cars here as London as a whole. 

Nightlife

Canonbury has no shortage of restaurants, pubs, and bars to explore in the late evening. It's not particularly a nightlife destination, but is well-connected and not very distant from the West End. 

Family Friendly

Canonbury has good primary schools, and fair secondary schools, and is a safe and lovely place to raise a family. It is slightly quieter than true central London, but not far from the action, and full of options for recreation and leisure. There are many garden squares, giving the area a peaceful and green feel. About 30% of households are homes with 2 or more adults with children - more than single parent households. 

Pet Friendly

Canonbury is definitely toward the urban end of the suburban-urban London spectrum, but does have some green space, mostly in the form of small squares.

Transport

Canonbury Station and Highbury & Islington Station are on the Overground to Stratford, West Croydon, and Richmond. Angel is on the Northern Line, and Highbury & Islington underground station is on the Victoria Line. The area is served by numerous buses, and is within cycling distance of the City and the West End. Essex Road also provides rail services.
