Living in

Upton Park is a conveniently located suburb with a lot to offer. With good access to green space, good transport links, and good entertainment options in the surrounding area, it's no wonder that Upton Park is popular with families - but it is a surprise that despite these advantages, this neighbourhood is fairly inexpensive to buy a house in. The area is home to a diverse community, and also receives a lot of visitors from all over the world during West Ham games.

Upton Park is a diverse, family area - there is an especially large Muslim, South Asian community here. 

Safety

This is a safe place to live, with the crime rate in and around Upton Park rated as being average by the Met police. The 2014/2015 crime rate and violence against the person rate were both slightly lower than for London as a whole. The nearest high-crime hotspot is in Stratford.

Parking

Parking is about average in Upton Park, in terms of ease and affordability. The rate of car ownership here is a little less than in London overall - with a little over one car per every two households. The area has fairly good road links, including links to Newham Way and the North Circular.

Nightlife

Upton Park is home to a good selection of pubs and some restaurants, especially Indian/Pakistani food. There are also a few bars and a nightclub, and transport links are good to places with more nightlife.

Family Friendly

There is a lot of terraced housing in this area, which can make a suitable family home.  Upton Park is just south of the Wanstead Flats, and parks ranging from West Ham to Beckton District Park North and Central Park are dotted through the area. There are also playing fields in the area. The River Roding, and the River Thames, are also nearby. This area is home to many children, with about a quarter of the population being aged 0-15. There are numerous schools in the area, with options ranging from grammar school to Roman Catholic school. 

Pet Friendly

Much of the housing in this area consists of terraces, meaning it's possible to find a home suitable for pets in this area. Upton Park is just south of the Wanstead Flats, and parks ranging from West Ham to Beckton District Park North and Central Park are dotted through the area. The River Roding, and the River Thames, are also nearby.

Transport

Upton Park station is on the District and Hammersmith & City lines, as is Plaistow, and East Ham - which also offers Overground services. Stratford, a major transit hub, is nearby. The area is well-served by local buses, and has fairly good road links, including links to Newham Way and the North Circular. London City Airport is nearby.
