Ravenscourt Park Area Guide

Ravenscourt Park, West London

Fabulous3.7

Living in

Ravenscourt Park is a small district with a lot to offer. The area has excellent transport links, with its own District Line station and numerous underground services from nearby Hammersmith, as well as many local buses and good road links. It also has a beloved park of the same name, and is near the Thames. Schools in this area are very good, and there are lovely Victorian houses. The area is also a lovely base to explore other close-by neighbourhoods, like Chiswick.

Community

The feel of this neighbourhood depends on which end of it you're in - leafier and villagier toward Chiswick, more urban and dense toward Hammersmith. This area isn't especially prized for independent shops and cafe culture, but again, that is on offer nearby.

Safety

Ravenscourt Park is a fairly safe place to live, though in 2014/2015 the crime rate was somewhat higher here than in London overall. For that same period, violence against the person was lower. The Met police rates the area as having average crime, though its neighbour, Hammersmith, has above average crime, and there is a high crime hotspot around Westfield Shepherd's Bush.

Parking

This is a typically congested area in which it can be difficult and expensive to find parking. Slightly fewer people in this area own cars than in London overall. The area has good road links.

Nightlife

Hammersmith, next door to Ravenscourt Park, has much to do in the wee hours, and the area is very well-connected including by night buses.

Family Friendly

The housing stock in this area is mainly Victorian, and the larger houses carry a hefty price tag. However, there are many very good state and private schools in this area. Ravenscourt Park itself is nearby for green and open space and children's playgrounds, as is the Thames, and there are several other parks in the area. There is a somewhat high population of working-age adults in this Ravenscourt Park than in London overall, and a correspondingly lower number of children aged 0-15.

Pet Friendly

Houses are mainly Victorian, and many are small, though larger ones are sometimes available at a high price. Ravenscourt Park itself is nearby for green and open space, as is the Thames, and there are several other parks in the area.

Transport

Ravenscourt Park and Stamford Brook (Zone 2) are on the District Line. Hammersmith is on the Circle, District, Hammersmith & City, and Piccadilly Lines. The area is exceptionally well-served by buses. There are good road links in this area. It is a short journey by Tube or car to Heathrow.
