Cleveland Area Guides

The name Cleveland means ‘Cliffland’, and refers to the coastal cliffs in this region of north east England. Once a Viking settlement, the county of Redcar and Cleveland is now an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with seaside resort towns on the coast — which is one of the longest unbroken stretches of beach in the United Kingdom. The area is well connected by road, and by rain from London or Edinburgh via Darlington. A beautiful and historic region, the Cleveland area offers historic market towns and picturesque villages alike.
