Stevenston is an inland town within North Ayrshire, Scotland, on the east cost of Firth of Clyde, which, along with Ardrossan and Saltcoats, makes up what is locally known as the ‘Three towns’ due to their close proximity to one another, practically making them as a single town. Having been named after landowner Stephen Loccart in the 12th century, Stevenston began to thrive during the industrial revolution after the development of a dynamite factory, along with the introduction of the railway and mining industries in the late 19th century, saw more available work and accommodation for residents. Today, residents can find a majority of Social and Council housing in the town, with the Manufacturing, Construction and Health & social work services being the dominant forms of employment.
