The Parish of Woodbury, encompassing the villages of Woodbury, Woodbury Salterton, and Exton, is one of the largest in Devon.
Much of the renowned Woodbury Common lies within the parish, an area of outstanding natural beauty that draws walkers and nature lovers alike. Woodbury is a vibrant village with a strong sense of community centred around its church, chapel, and local school. Historically, the parish was frequented by Sir Francis Drake, and St Swithin’s Chapel in the village stands as a tribute to his legacy.
Amenities include two popular public houses, a well-stocked village store with post office, local restaurants, a doctor’s surgery, a nearby golf club, and the leisure facilities of Woodbury Park. The village also benefits from a regular bus service between Exeter and Exmouth, both only a short drive away.
