Portree has all the facilities you would expect, secondary school, swimming pool, cinema, theatre, supermarket, shops, restaurants, banks and library. Primary schooling is available in both Edinbane and Dunvegan. As well as the Waternish area being popular with walkers it is also a haven for wildlife with Minki whales, basking sharks, dolphins, sea eagles and deer seen in the area.

Directions:
From Portree follow the A87 north of Portree for approximately 3 miles. At Borve turn left onto the A850 towards Dunvegan. Pass Edinbane and continue on the A850 until you come to a turning on your right hand side signposted to Waternish (B886). Turn onto the Waternish road and continue along its length until you come to a turning on your right hand side signposted Geary/Gillen. Turn onto the Geary/Gillen road and continue until you come to the primary school. Just past the primary school the road forks. Turn right into Gillen and continue for a short distance and the site will be on your right.
