The vibrant village of Pilton is one of Somerset’s most desirable locations. Nestled between Wells and Glastonbury and Castle Cary, it is steeped in heritage and charm. Perhaps best known internationally as the home of the world-renowned Glastonbury Festival, Pilton remains a peaceful rural community for the rest of the year.
The village boasts a church, a well-supported village hall, a pub, and an active community. It’s just 2 miles from Shepton Mallet, 6 miles from Wells, and within easy reach of Bath, Bristol and Castle Cary (mainline station to London Paddington in approx. 90 minutes).

The grounds extend to open paddocks enclosed by mature hedgerows and featuring a tranquil wildlife pond. About the area Glastonbury has been a religious centre throughout history and back into the times of legends. The Celtic monastery evolved into one of England's wealthiest and most influential abbeys and the town grew up alongside it. Today it’s a small but thriving town and a major tourist venue, welcoming thousands of visitors each year. Medieval Glastonbury - designated a conservation area - clusters around the evocative ruins of the Abbey. To the northwest is Wells, the smallest city in England (population 10,000). Its centre is the marketplace (local markets twice a week) surrounded by many medieval buildings including the Cathedral and moated Bishops Palace. Immediately to the south (2 miles) of Glastonbury is the more recent town of Street and these centres provide a huge range of facilities and amenities. Shepton Mallet is a couple of miles away and has beautiful old walled walks around its centre and exceptional listed buildings, as well as a local market and large retail park. Southeast is Castle Cary which is one of the prettiest towns in Somerset and which dates back to Norman times. Its population is towards 3,000 and has a town centre with historic buildings, the nearby “Newt” and of course the rail station with trains under 2 hours to Paddington. There are excellent local schools, and the private sector includes Millfield, Wells Cathedral School, Downside, All Hallows and the Bruton and Sherborne schools.
