There has been a house on the site of Oxney Court for centuries and, like all historic homes, there have been transformations and changes made over the years. In the 17th Century the timber frame house was demolished and in the 18th Century was rebuilt in a gothic baronial style, which is evident today; additional renovations were undertaken in the 19th Century.

During the First World War, the house was requisitioned but suffered severe damage in a fire and eventually fell to ruin.
