Historic monument
• The Gazebo Tower was built in Palace Pound in 1833, along with Ross-on-Wye's Mock Gothic Town Walls. During this period there were a number of developments to beautify the town and its surrounding landscape and this iconic building acted as a viewing point for the picturesque south Herefordshire market town.
• Building work was carried out as part of the construction of Wilton Road; this route was cut into the hill on which Ross sits. This exposed the old red sandstone and resulted in the town's famed cliff being created. For centuries, many well-known buildings in this area, such as castles, churches and the Ross-on-Wye Market House - plus the Gazebo Tower - have been assembled using this richly-coloured rock.
The property at a glance
An arched doorway leads to the light and airy kitchen which includes a fridge with small freezer compartment, a hob, oven and a miniature dishwasher. Electric blue worktops inject a splash of colour into the bright, white room. In addition, a cloakroom is tucked away to the left of the front door.
A carpeted spiral staircase winds up to the lounge. The walls between the staircase and the rooms are fitted with fire retardant glass to let in light and views from the original arched windows. This room also benefits from a hardwood floor and a modern electric fireplace.
The bedroom on the second floor looks out to a spectacular outlook from the historic windows and a stone arch in the wall has been utilised as a built-in wardrobe. The double bed houses a bath underneath, so a new owner could utilise this feature if they were to install a spring-loaded bed. This room also includes an en-suite wetroom and another spiral staircase snakes up to the battery-operated roof hatch which boasts its breathtaking panoramic view of Ross-on-Wye and the surrounding countryside over the tower's turrets. Athletes from Ross Rowing Club can frequently be seen gliding down the River Wye.

The ever-popular Royal Hotel - which serves traditional British cuisine - is situated on the other side of the road to the Gazebo Tower and Ross-on-Wye's town centre is a few moments' walk away.
