Property description

A truly unique, skilful and rather fabulous conversion of a Grade II listed former Granary, right in the heart of Ticehurst village, enjoying open plan, characterful accommodation and a spectacular roof garden with a 360 degree panorama over the surrounding rooftops and countryside, currently comprising two bedrooms, two en-suites, open plan kitchen/dining/family room and an enormous loft-style sitting room on the top floor. EPC Rating: N/A.

The Granary forms a truly unique, spacious and rather charming conversion, located in the heart of this popular village and close to all the amenities that Ticehurst has to offer.

The property was converted by the current owners in around 2005, and much care and attention has been taken to preserve the original Granary features, such as the sliding granary doors to the first and second floors, as well as some of the cogs and pulley mechanisms on the second floor.

One of the most magnificent features, though, has to be the 360-degree views from the roof terrace over the village, church and the High Weald beyond. They are breathtakingly stunning, and of course, completely private. This space is accessed from the sitting room.

The owners have created a clever blend of original features, exposed beams and brickwork, and modern, open-plan contemporary layout, especially the second floor loft-style sitting room with the open space and windows for light and views and a sliding granary door to the front, it is just incredible. By the stairwell are the pulley and winch mechanisms, giving a nod to the building’s industrial past.

The first floor has also been designed for open plan living, and provides a kitchen, dining area and family area as well as a cloakroom. The modern kitchen includes an electric Gaggenau six-ring hob and a secondary two-ring gas hob, as well as twin ovens and two dishwashers. At one end of the space the full height granary door can be slid back to let the outside in.

On the ground floor, one is welcomed by period features such as exposed brickwork and original beams, with stairs rising to the lovely accommodation above, and doors to two bedrooms with en-suites.

To the right is the principal bedroom which enjoys a dressing area by the door, fitted wardrobes, exposed beams and brickwork, and a door to a high specification en-suite bathroom comprising a bath, separate shower, WC, and modern basin atop a floating shelf, updated tiles and mirror across one wall, and tiled flooring.

The second bedroom, is again located off the entrance hall, and has the same charm and character as the principal bedroom, as well as access to its own en-suite shower room, comprising a shower, WC and basin.

Outside is a quaint cobbled courtyard, of which part is owned by The Granary.
