Property description

An important and unique property in the heart of old Swanage just above the Mill Pond, this elegant and sophisticated apartment offers many original features. It is stunningly set on the ground floor of the attractive Church Hill House, parts of which date back to 1786, the remainder dating from the end of the 19th Century.

From the large, timber framed STORM PORCH, the attractive front door opens to a LOBBY. From here, an inner door with original leaded windows leads you into the large, contemporary KITCHEN/BREAKFAST ROOM. Modern yet sympathetically and tastefully in keeping with the style of the property, the kitchen features an integrated AEG induction hob, electric oven and dishwasher. A Villeroy & Boch Belfast sink is set into stunning granite work tops, and there is a free-standing washing machine and a tumble dryer. By the breakfast area, a lovely, large window seat overlooks the garden. The DRAWING ROOM is just stunning, with high ceilings, ornate cornices, original mullion windows over a full-length timber window seat, and a large open fireplace set into a Purbeck stone hearth.

From here, an inner hall leads to the bedroom accommodation. The MASTER BEDROOM is a sumptuous double room with a window seat, built-in wardrobes and an EN-SUITE with shower, WC and wash-hand basin. STUDY/BEDROOM TWO is a single room with large sash window and plenty of storage. The spacious BATHROOM is attractively styled with a large corner bath, WC, wash-hand basin and ample storage.

Outside
The enchanting, private GARDEN has been professionally landscaped, with a box-lined, Purbeck stone path and TERRACE for outside seating. Areas laid to lawn are surrounded by mature shrubs and trees including tulip tree, pleached malus and a magnificent magnolia. Wide paths lead to the side and rear of the apartment, which offer additional seating areas. There is a private car park as part of the property.

Location
The property is located by the Mill Pond and St Mary’s parish church, and close to the beaches and town centre. Swanage itself is famed for its long sandy beaches, eclectic shops and restaurants, and folk and jazz festivals. A short walk from the property is access to Townsend Nature Reserve and Durlston County Park. From Swanage, you are only a short ferry journey from bustling Bournemouth and a short car or steam train journey from the Saxon walled town of Wareham. With mainline links to London Waterloo from both towns, you can be in the capital within 2.5 hours.
