Living in

Arkley is a village which sits within the London Borough of Barnet, in Greater London. As one of London's highest points, Arkley stands at an impressive 482 feet (147m) above sea level, and is located 10.6 miles (17.1km) north of Charing Cross. Arkley consists of a long village which extends out between Barnet and Stirling Corner and is made up of the ancient hamlets of Barnet Gate, Rowley Green and Arkely hamlet, it is also home to one of the oldest Windmills in the country. It is unknown where the name Arkley originated from, however, as it was first recorded in the 14th century, it is thought that it may refer to a meadow where closed baskets, originally called arks, were made from wickers or reeds.

There are many places to explore within the village of Arkley, with a Safari Adventure Golf, The Barnet Museum, independent stores such as a Patisserie, a homeware boutique and others found within The Spires Shopping Centre which has plenty of other shops and eateries for residents discover. The area is made up of many luxurious detached properties which are mostly suited to those with a higher budget who are looking for spacious family accommodation surrounding by greenery within a charming location.

Parking

It is somewhat difficult to find a secure parking space around Arkley, if residents are looking for a reliable spot other than their residential street, they can choose from either hourly or monthly options, such as, Garthland Drive, Well Approach, Well Road, Bells Hill and Granville Road which are all within 15 minutes of St Peter's Church.

Nightlife

Only a small handful of local Pubs and Restaurants are available in Arkley along Barnet Road. If residents are looking for a mix of lively Bars instead, they can head further out to the surrounding areas of Whetstone, Finchley, Enfield or Tottenham.

Transport

The nearest station to Arkley is New Barnet Railway Station, which provides access to the Great Northern Line and Thameslink services. Residents can find regular departures to both Welwyn Garden City and London Kings Cross, where they can find even further both transport links. Buses also run throughout the area for local travel.
