Coleraine Area Guides

The market town of Coleraine sits on the banks of the River Bann, and is just a few miles from the seaside towns and sandy beaches of Portrush and Portstewart. Coleraine is the site of the first known human settlement in Ireland, and the town is soaked in millennia of history and character. Today, it is a bustling university town with a pedestrianised centre full of excellent retail and dining venues. Coleraine is connected by rail and suburban bus lines, and is the main town on the famous Causeway Coast. Millions are drawn to the area every year to visit the town of Bushmills and its distillery, see the romantic ruins of Dunlucs Castle, take a trip on the heritage steam train, and visit the world-famous Giant’s Causeway.
