Location
Longhope is a village inside the Royal Forest of Dean - a place of timeless beauty and untamed nature. These woodlands offer 24,000 acres of magnificent countryside, award-winning picnic sites, family cycle routes and gorgeous walks, as well as a huge selection of outdoor pursuits.
Longhope features a village shop and Post Office, which stocks essential groceries, plus an active village hall - The Latchen Room, which sometimes opens as a pop-up cafe. The village also boasts a popular bakery, The Forest Bakehouse, which stocks artisan bread, pastries and cakes, and this is next door to Walk House.
In terms of schooling, there are three primaries close by; Huntley Church of England Primary School has attained an 'Outstanding' Ofsted grading, while Hope Brook CofE Primary School (opposite Walk House) and Mitcheldean Endowed Primary School both carry a 'Good' Ofsted score. Meanwhile, the closest secondary, Dene Magna School boasts an 'Outstanding' Ofsted rating.

The home at a glance
Walk House is tucked away from Church Road behind a tall, wooden gate. A path leads through the immaculately-kept front garden which contains a variety of bright flowers, plus a vegetable patch and some young fruit trees. The white cottage itself is covered in three beautiful plants - white Clematis, purple Wisteria and a well-established grapevine.
The front room gives a beguiling first impression; natural light pours in through sash windows –which are framed by original wooden shutters – as well as six window panes in the front door. This room boasts many lovely details including exposed beams, an exposed stone walls and an off-centre patch of Victorian tiled floor. The pièce de résistance, however, is an inglenook fireplace which houses a grand wood-burning stove. This front room is the largest of two reception rooms, the other is the sitting room, another lovely bright space which features an open fireplace, as well as a fantastic view of a wooded hill beyond the front garden.
A beautifully bright hallway with a flagstone floor leads from the front room into the vibrant open-plan kitchen/dining room. An island in the centre of the room grants additional food preparation and dining space and there is also plenty of room for a table and chairs in the corner of the room. Light pours into this area through windows which face outwards to the store room-cum-utility, which features skylights as well as a window and there is scope to convert this lovely sunny area into an orangery (subject to the necessary consents). There are two doors at either end of this room – one leads out the gorgeous front garden, while the other opens out into a secret courtyard which is tucked away to the side of the home. This charming outdoor space catches the sun in the late morning then stays perpetually luminous through the course of the afternoon - making it an excellent spot to enjoy a glass of wine.
There are two staircases that lead to the first floor – one is found in the front room and the other, an attractive spiral staircase, is in the kitchen/dining room. On this level of the property, there are four bedrooms and a corridor, which features a lovely stained glass window, leads between them all. In addition, there is a shower room at one end of the home and a family bathroom at the opposing side – right at the top of the spiral staircase.
At the back of the home, there is a lovely sunlit south-west facing pebbled courtyard with raised flower beds. There could be scope to convert this area into an off-road parking area if one wished.
