Property description

Stunning family home in a picturesque village setting which combines stylish design with character features to create a light and spacious interior. A block-paved driveway leads to the double garage whilst to the rear, the south-facing garden is laid to lawn with a decked terrace and bark-chipped children’s play area. Newark’s high-speed rail network to London Kings Cross (approximately 82 minutes) is located a short distance away. Epc Rating - E

For the current owners, their overwhelming first impression of Meadow Barn was one of light and space, as well as the amazing views. “The whole house was just flooded with light, partly due to its south-facing aspect, but also because of the double-height windows to the front and rear and the proportions of the rooms. During our time here we have redecorated throughout, installed a new kitchen and sanded the downstairs floor in order to maximise the natural light. The result is that the house now has a more contemporary feel.”

“We love the spacious ground floor; it’s where the whole family can relax and spend time together. The house is great for entertaining - with two sets of doors leading directly onto the garden. The decked area adjacent to the kitchen is ideal for outdoor dining and we have created a bark-chipped children’s play area leading from the dining/ sitting room, which means it’s easy to keep an eye on children when they’re playing.

“It’s difficult to choose a favourite room in the house. The kitchen has been designed to suit busy family life as well as being great entertaining space - we all love spending time in it. The sitting-room is a lovely space to relax in and the wood-burner makes it feel very cosy, especially on a cold winter’s night. Furthermore, there are the fabulous views from the first floor, especially from the balcony where we love to sit and take-in the view over the surrounding countryside.

“Beckingham is a lovely place to live. It’s very pretty, with some wonderful old buildings, particularly the Grade I listed church. There’s a lively village hall, a very popular restaurant and it’s well-placed for good primary and secondary schools. Additionally, Newark is so accessible that, although we’re in the heart of a rural village, we can be in the centre of the town within minutes.”

“We’ll really miss the light and space this house offers; it’s been a wonderful family home. Of course, we’ll also miss the gorgeous views and the stunning countryside walks.”

Beckingham is a quaint rural village in the picturesque Lincolnshire countryside with a thriving community hall and award winning restaurant, ‘The Black Swan’. It is within easy reach of the historic market town of Newark with its beautiful cobbled-stone Georgian market square, 12th century castle, cinema, theatre, golf course and array of eateries, boutiques, characterful pubs and antique shops.

Primary education is available at Brant Broughton Church of England & Methodist Primary School whilst secondary grammar schooling is in nearby Sleaford (14 miles) at Carre’s Grammar School for boys (co-educational sixth form) and Kesteven and Sleaford High School for girls (co-educational sixth form). Independent schooling is in Lincoln (16 miles) at Lincoln Minster School.

For commuters, there are excellent rail links to London King’s Cross (82 minutes) from Newark, whilst the A17, A1 and A46 are all within easy reach, offering swift access to the nearby cities of Lincoln and Nottingham.
