For us, being situated so close to the clifftops and the beach, while living just a short walk from both Broadstairs and Ramsgate, makes this an idyllic place to be. We have beautiful sea views from the front of our home and a parkland, with an abundance of wildlife, to the rear. In the Summer we often walk to the beach without shoes and enjoy a bite to eat at Sam’s Bar while our children play on the beach, five minutes from our doorstep. Starting as a project for our forever home we knew from the outset we were going to transform a bungalow into a unique property; doubling its size to a very high specification. We moved in and immediately landscaped the garden, designing it from scratch with a raised bank for sea views and a useable family space for dining out in the summer. Being south-westerly facing it is sunny all day and the garden feels like an additional room. We carefully planned the extension to our home, with large windows to continue the light and airy atmosphere from outside to in, so that you never feel enclosed. From the living room we have a perspective of the world around us, you can sit on the sofa, watching the boats across The Channel, a sunrise, moonrise or dramatic storms rolling towards the coast. The welcoming feeling of our reception hall is something we love about our home, we think it has a wow-factor as you step inside, with the openness of a double height gallery landing, where our daughter can play the piano upstairs. The master-bedroom is a wonderful space, with a living suite, en suite, walk-in wardrobe and coastal views from the Juliette Balcony. Upstairs we have another bedroom and a further three bedrooms on the ground floor, with the use of a luxurious bathroom. Our kitchen is a project we haven’t completed, but it is an amazing space where we have loved hosting events, such as Christmas as a family of 12 around the table. Having transformed our home one project at a time, albeit not completing our list, we have made this into so much more than ‘four walls and a roof.’ But now we have the chance to live somewhere with the land for our horses and it is something we cannot turn down. We bought this house because of the location and vision of what it could be and we hope the next owners will continue to put their own personality to a place that we have loved living for the last seven years.
