“I first saw Holly House when it was partially built, and I immediately loved its position and the scenic views onto open fields, as well as the large rooms and impressive entrance hall,” recalls the current owner.

“I have lived here very happily for 14 years, and as I picked most of the internal fittings myself, most of the improvements have taken place outside. The garden was just a flat, blank canvas when we moved in and it’s now a space that is perfect for relaxing and BBQs with friends and family. It has great views and I often watch the amazing sunsets from the comfortable chairs on the decking area or on the garden swing.”

“Holly House has been a great family home in a fabulous location. My children attended the local nurseries and village primary school before going on to do exceptionally well at the grammar schools in Grantham. Long Bennington has everything we need, including a well-stocked Co-op, a lovely coffee shop which does great birthday cakes and a park and playing fields that is home to the local football teams. The village hall hosts lots of activities and local events, and we’ve enjoyed many sociable evenings in the village pubs and restaurants. There are several scenic walks across the fields to the nearest villages and along the River Witham too.”

“Holly House is a fabulous party house where we have enjoyed many festive Christmas celebrations. The reception rooms come into their own then as the children can play noisily in the garden room, whilst the adults can enjoy peace in the elegant lounge. The spare lounge provides a calm respite if anyone wishes to get away from it all. The kitchen and garden room both have French doors opening onto the garden which has pretty lighting that picks out the trees at night.”

“I think the kitchen is my favourite room. It’s a nice informal room to eat in and it’s always been the hub of the home as it easy to sit and chat, and still be involved whilst cooking. I am really going to miss the space and views from this house but as my family have left home, it’s just too big for me now and I will be leaving with many happy memories.”

The property is located in the village of Long Bennington which lies approximately 8 miles from the market town of Grantham. There is a variety of schooling in the district including a superb village primary school and two excellent grammar schools for both girls and boys. The National Trust’s Belton House is located a short distance away as is Belvoir Castle. Commuters are well served by Grantham’s high-speed rail network to London Kings Cross.
