You could drive down Bromstone Road in Broadstairs for many years and not realise that the private enclave of three select and distinctive detached properties, discreetly hidden from the main road in Bromstone Place, actually exists. It is a charming and tranquil oasis in the midst of Broadstairs and the ‘jewel in the crown' is Cherry Tree Cottage. This very attractive and beautifully constructed property was built in 1999 by a builder/carpenter for his own use so everything is of the highest quality and this is immediately apparent, whether you are admiring the brick and tiled exterior with the charming eaves or the exquisite internal joinery including the amazing beams, panelled doors and hand built kitchen units. Walking into the entrance hall the first thing you see is the delightful dining hall that is ideal for formal dinner parties and family celebrations and looks particularly special at Christmastime. It is semi open plan from the hallway with a partial divide created by beams and an exposed brick wall giving it great charm and character. The drawing room is equally impressive with its floor to ceiling brick inglenook style fireplace and leads to the stunning bar created within a large conservatory that has doors to the garden. The ‘hub of the household' is the impressive kitchen/breakfast room with its double sized range cooker built into a brick recess, an inset fridge freezer, dishwasher and large central island as well as patio doors to the terrace. There is also a walk in pantry with an American fridge freezer as well as an adjacent utility room and cloakroom. The ground floor also includes a family room that could always be used as the fifth bedroom if required, a study that makes a great TV ‘den' for the kids as well as the integral double garage that leads out to the large driveway where you can park numerous vehicles. Walking up the very attractive wood turned staircase you come to the lovely master bedroom with specially designed wood doors to eaves storage and a truly amazing en suite bathroom that takes your breath away. You walk down steps under a wonderful vaulted and beamed ceiling and in front of you is a large wet room style shower as well as a bath and even a TV!
What the Owner says:
“We moved here in 2001 because we fell in love with the place the moment we saw it. It was so well built and looked after that there was nothing we needed to do to it and the fact that we were so near the town, the seafront and local schools and yet the area was so quiet, peaceful and private made it somewhere really special. We actually own the whole access drive in Bromstone Place although the other two properties have a right of way over it. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here and over the years we have upgraded the bathrooms as well as converting the conservatory into a bar – where we spend many a happy evening. The house has been a superb family home as well as a great place for entertaining and we shall really miss it. However the children have all left home and we think it is time to downsize. Broadstairs is a lovely town with a wide variety of individual shops, beaches, bars and restaurants as well as annual events such as Folk Week, the Dickens Festival and the Food Fair. Another advantage of Broadstairs is that it includes some very good schools and the station can whisk you to London on the high speed train within an hour and a half."
