Ryton Area Guide

Ryton, Tyne and Wear

Exceptional4.5

Living in

Ryton is a semi-rural town in the Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead, which is located in Tyne and Wear, North East England. The town became a desirable area for affluent residents due to the close proximity to the urban and industrial areas of Newcastle and Gateshead, and there are several old mansions at the old Ryton village which still remain today. Since the decline of the mining industry in the 1980s, Ryton had gradually become increasingly suburbanised and a place which is favoured by commuters for the easy travel into the nearby cities of Tyneside. A great mix of detached and terraced period properties can be found within the area, which attracts both young families and professionals alike.
