East Sheen, commonly known as just 'Sheen', is a lovely London suburb with a villagey atmosphere. It is popular with both families and professionals, who like the area's access to Richmond Park as well as its fast links to Waterloo, yet it is not as well known an area as neighbouring Richmond and Barnes.

Community

East Sheen has a real village feel about it, because of its green surroundings and its vibrant local businesses. This is an area that has a lot of staying power, especially with families - in part because of the excellent schools. 

Safety

East Sheen is a very safe place to live. The wider surrounding area is rated as having average crime by the Met police. The 2014/2015 crime rate and violence against the person rate were both significantly lower than the overall London rates, and the borough rates.

Parking

Parking is not especially an issue here. Car ownership is high, at a little over one car per household. Road links are good, and include the South Circular and the A3. 

Nightlife

East Sheen is home to a good range of pubs and restaurants. Bus links to places like Hammersmith with more in the way of nightlife are very good.

Family Friendly

This neighbourhood has a range of property that includes many suitable family homes. There is a wide range of primary and secondary schools in East Sheen, and they are generally very good. East Sheen is hard to beat for green space, with the vast Richmond Park on its doorstep. There is a fairly high percentage of children living here, with about 24% of the population being aged 0-15. 

Pet Friendly

Housing in this area is varied, and includes several larger houses that would be suitable for pets. There is phenomenal access to green space in this area, with Richmond Park right on your doorstep. This would be an excellent place to own a dog. Richmond Park offers opportunities for horse riding, as well.

Transport

Mortlake and North Sheen stations are served by trains to Waterloo. Nearby, Richmond offers access to the District Line. The area is well-served by buses, running to places like Hammersmith, Putney, Richmond, and Wimbledon. Road links are good, and include the South Circular and the A3.
