Isle of Wight Area Guides

A holiday destination since Victorian times, the Isle of Wight is located off the coast of Hampshire. It is connected to the mainland by ferry, and known for its seaside kitsch. Its 25-mile shore features white cliffs, sand dunes, and beaches - that, and its mild climate, make the Isle of Wight a paradise for the outdoorsy. The Isle of Wight also features many festivals and family-friendly activities, and is generally a very safe place. Its jobs are limited, and it isn’t really within commuting distance of London, but it would be possible to commute to Portsmouth by ferry. Still, house prices are fairly low and it’s a safe area, with all the necessary facilities contained on the isle itself — schools, a hospital, cinemas - so it’s never really necessary to go to the mainland. Whether you’re looking for a change of pace or a change of scenery, the Isle of Wight is an excellent choice.
