Isle of Anglesey Area Guides

Almost all of this island’s coast is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Isle of Anglesey was holy to the Celts, last to fall to Roman rule, and today is a popular destination. The island used to be called the Mother of Wales, and it still has numerous festivals celebrating local food, music, and culture as well as a large Welsh speaking population. Sea cliffs, trails for walking, cycling, and horse riding, and wildlife are other attractions the Isle of Anglesey offers. The island is easily accessible, with two bridges connecting it to the mainland. Anglesey was named one of the happiest places to live in the UK in 2015, with more than 40% of people rating their happiness as 9 or 10 out of 10.
