Hull, also known as Kingston upon Hull, is a port city located in the county of East Riding, in the Yorkshire and the Humber region of England. Having been awarded the ‘City of Culture' in 2017, Hull underwent redevelopment of its infrastructure which then lead to the opening of many wonderful venues, including 'The Deep', one of the world's most spectacular aquariums that is home to over 3,500 sea creatures. The city offers an abundance of culture and history, with plenty of delicious cuisines, shopping centres, and attractions, such as the recently renovated coastal marina that spans back over 200 years. Bordered by the impressive River Humber to the South and the North Sea to the East, Hull really is a hidden gem that provides a mixture of stunning countryside and coastline, with a bonus of the North Yorkshire Moors and Dales which are only a stone's throw away.

This is a thriving city that boasts so many different incredible qualities for both residents and tourists to enjoy. Hull offers an array of places to eat, drink, socialise and explore, with some of the popular venues being St Stephen's Shopping Centre, Hull New Theatre, Streetlife Museum and Pickering Park. Some of the scenic attractions are also great to visit, this includes The Humber Bridge, Beverley Minster, Burton Constable Hall & Grounds, and Hull's Old Town.

Kingston upon Hull has been named among the top 5 most unsafe areas in the East Riding of Yorkshire, with a 21% higher crime rate than Yorkshire and The Humber and a 38% higher crime rate than the England, Wales & Northern Ireland overall figure.

Parking

Residents have access to only a small number of car parks within the city centre. If locals are looking for private parking where they can use a space at an hourly, daily or monthly fee, they can look on sites like JustPark, Yourparkingspace and Parkopedia. For regular car parks in the city centre, such as Osborne Street Multi-Storey Car Park, Albion St Car Park, and George Street Multi Storey Car Park, residents can pay hourly for the time that they need, although this will be within their specific opening hours.

Nightlife

Hull offers great nightlife within its city centre, with a mixture of bars, pubs, clubs, and restaurants. Those looking to enjoy an evening out can head to the popular venues of ATIK Bar, Fuel, and The Lexington Rooftop Bar & Terrace, whilst also finding a wide selection of food at the coastal marina. When residents fancy a change, they can head to the surrounding areas of York, Leeds or Sheffield for even more nightlife options.

With an impressive 13 schools that have been granted with an ‘Outstanding’ rating by Ofsted, it gives parents a good opportunity to provide their children with a head start in their education. Transport

The residents of Hull have access to many great transport links within the city. At Hull Station, residents can board mainly the Transpennine Express or Northern services, which offer regular trains to the likes of Leeds- 1hr, York- 1hr 10m, Manchester Piccadilly- 2hrs, or London Kings Cross- 2hr 40m. The nearest major airport is Humberside Airport (HUY) which takes just 34 minutes by car via the A63 and A15. Local buses and coaches also serve the area.
