Chingford is a quiet suburb on the edge of London, bordering on Essex. The area has loads of historic buildings, incluuding Queen Elizabeth's Hunting Lodge, which was built for King Henry VIII in 1543. Epping Forest, London's largest park at 600 acres of woodland, is on the doorstep of Chingford, making it feel like a country retreat despite being located within Travelcard Zone 5 and having good connections to Central London.

Community

Chingford is an established community, with much lower numbers of residents who were born outside the UK than London in general. Many of those who live in Chingford have done so for a very long time. It has an unusually high population of older people compared to London as a whole. Chingford has a village feel and a goood variety of locally-owned, independent businesses. 

Safety

This is a safe place to live. Chingford and the wider surrounding area has average crime, according to the Met police. The 2014/2015 crime and violence against the person rates were significantly lower than for London overall. 

Parking

Chingford is solidly suburban, and a fairly easy and inexpensive place to own a car. A high percentage of people own cars here, ar a rate of a little more than one car per household. 

Nightlife

Chingford is a quiet suburb, but still has a good range of local restaurants and pubs and a few bars. Transport links into Central London for nights out are limited, but there is one night bus, the N26, which links the area to Trafalgar Square.

Family Friendly

Chingford, with its selection of larger, semi- and detached Edwardian houses, is a good place to look for a family home. With the vast Epping Forest on your doorstep, there is also no shortage of green space. There are also numerous waterways in the area, as well as recreation grounds and sport facilities. Schools here are generally very good, and there is a selection of both private and state schools from which to chose. There is a similar percentage of children in this area as in London overall, and it is considered a family area. 

Pet Friendly

This is a very pet-friendly area, as there is a wide selection of larger houses as well as an enormous amount of green and open space. Epping Forest, with its many acres and miles of trains and brooks, is on your doorstep. This would be an excellent place to own a dog. There are also a number of riding schools in the area for horse enthusiasts. 

Transport

Though not on the Tube network, Chingford is well-connected for a Zone 5 area. There are regular Overground trains to Central London, and it is possible to change to the Underground at Walthamstow, which is on the Victoria Line. Overground trains from Chingford Station reach Liverpool Street in less than 30 minutes. There are numerous local buses serving the area, including one night bus which connects Chingford with Trafalgar Square.
