Living in

Bakewell is a small market town which is situated in the county of Derbyshire, East Midlands. The area is the largest settlement in the Peak District National Park, and is well known as the ‘Capital of the Derbyshire Dales’. When the Romans had first discovered the warm springs of this valley, they had built a settlement simply to take advantage of the waters, it was later settled by the Saxons who then called it ‘bad quell’ meaning ‘bath well’. The town today is filled with quaint shops, old stone cottages, narrow alleyways and picturesque river walks.

The Bakewell Bath Gardens, The Old House Museum, The Old Town Hall and The famous Bakewell Show are some of the many beautiful nearby attractions that Bakewell has to offer. With a new metal footbridge which allows residents to cross over the river and take advantage of an array of cafes, tea-shops, restaurants, bistros and friendly pubs, Bakewell is suited to anyone that loves to explore and live within an idyllic characterful location.

Safety

There is both an average property crime rate and an average violent crime rate in the Bakewell area. Residents should remain cautious due to the popularity of the area for visiting tourists that pass through.

Parking

Residents have a small selection of private and secure parking spaces across Bakewell. The Agricultural Business Centre, Granby Road and Market Place are some of the nearby pay and display car parks which can be found within 10 minutes of the town centre. 

Nightlife

Bakewell only has a few nearby Bars and Pubs on offer, with the local venues of The Manners, The H Bar & Restaurant, The Woodyard and The Queen's Arms. For more nightlife options, residents can head further out to the areas of Buxton or Chesterfield.

Family Friendly

Limited education options are available directly within the Bakewell area. Parents can choose from local Schools such as, Childs 1st Day Nursery, S. Anselm's Preparatory School, Lady Manners School and Peak Performance Theatre School.

Transport

Matlock Station is the nearest available railway service for the residents of Bakewell, which they can travel to in around 25 minutes by car. The Station offers access to East Midlands Trains, where Bakewell residents can travel to surrounding areas with frequent trains. Bus routes can also be found in Bakewell for local travel.
