There are a wide range of schools within easy reach of the village including independent schools in Uppingham, Oakham, Stamford and Oundle.

DESCRIPTION

The Stone House is a striking period property nestled on the outskirts of the conservation area in the village of Wing. True to its name, the family home is built of stone under slate and dates back to the 1850s, offering charm and characterful features throughout.

The frontage of the property displays elegant symmetry. Walking through the central porch the entrance hall, with tiled flooring, leads through to two reception rooms, the drawing room and the library, of identical proportions. Both dual aspect, the focal points of the rooms are the beautiful stone-surround fireplaces, one with log burner, the other with working open fire. The library also benefits from built-in book shelving. The recently renovated, stone mullion windows with bronze casements and double glazing provide delightful views onto the front garden.

Continuing along the hallway is the stunning, south-facing sitting room, flooded with natural light and with double doors leading onto the landscaped garden.

From the sitting room is access to both the study and the kitchen-living-dining room. The kitchen boasts an array of shaker-style cabinetry, a Belfast sink, built-in oven and AGA as well as a kitchen island with breakfast bar seating. Just off the kitchen is a useful pantry cupboard.

Also located off the kitchen is the utility room with plumbing for a washing machine, the boot room, and access to the cellar.

The wooden floor of the kitchen flows through to the triple-aspect garden room enjoying stunning views over the grounds and access onto the dining terrace. The room, part of the two-storey extension from approximately 15 years ago, also benefits from a log burner, creating a snug atmosphere in the cooler months.

Completing the ground floor accommodation of The Stone House is a WC, side porch and rear stairs.

Rising to the first floor from the main staircase, to the front of the property is the Principal suite with dual aspect bedroom, dressing room and beautiful bathroom with feature free-standing bath and freestanding tap.

Moving west through the property are a further three double bedrooms and a family bathroom. Passing both the rear stairs, laundry room and airing cupboard is a further bathroom with bath and separate shower and a dual aspect guest bedroom with built-in wardrobes and stunning views of the grounds and countryside beyond.

OUTSIDE

Approached through electric gated access, the gravel driveway extends between The Stone House and the outbuildings, comprising; a converted barn, stable store, double garaging and a workshop-cum-garden store.

Set back from the road, there is a formal lawn to the front with stunning raised boarders bursting with roses, alliums, iris, peonies and aquilegia to name a few. The formal lawn rises to a tiered lawn and a wrap-around garden to the south featuring beautiful, stone raised beds and a greenhouse.

A gravel pathway hugs the family home and continues west to the dining terrace and formal rear lawn. The lawn extends up to the raised sleeper-bed vegetable garden boasting stunning, uninterrupted views across the countryside vistas beyond.

The vast lawn unfurls further up to the spinny with mown woodland pathways meandering through dappled shade. In spring there are carpets of snowdrops, as the seasons progress there are bluebells and clouds of cow parsley.

In addition to the landscaped grounds of The Stone House is paddock land to the north. In total, the property sits in approximately 13 acres.
