Property description

This 16th century Grade II Listed barn conversion is superb, whether you want a permanent country home or a special weekend and holiday retreat. Set on a plot of 0.6857 of an acre and surrounded by countryside in an AONB it provides everything needed for modern day living, while retaining the character of the original barn with its vaulted ceiling, exposed beams and dwarf flint walls. The barn is approached through gates that lead to a gravel drive where you can park numerous vehicles and a detached double garage with a home office extension and a boarded loft, ideal for working from home as there is also a Gigabit Fibre connection. French doors open into the impressive double height vaulted barn entrance with limestone flooring that flows throughout the ground floor and an oak and glass staircase that leads to the fascinating first floor glass and oak corridor. The dining area includes original wall beams and is open plan to the high end kitchen with a central island. The lounge is light with bi-fold doors to the large terrace and a trendy wood burning stove. There is an understairs cupboard and two double bedrooms with built in cupboards and a central shower room as well as a large sitting room/utility area with bi-fold doors to the garden. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and en suite facilities. Outside there is a spacious terrace, a five bar gate access and a large lawn. What the Owner says:
We always wanted to buy a barn and make it into a family home and in 2019 we found this and fell in love with the beautiful location and tranquility. The character of the barn also drew us as it was build when Henry VIIIth was on the throne. We spent some 18 months renovating it completely to a very high standard.
While it is lovely here, our children are going to secondary school so we are reluctantly selling and hope new owners will enjoy everything we have done to provide a very modern home within an historic Grade II listed building. It is very quiet and peaceful but our neighbours are lovely, the village community is friendly and we are not far from Canterbury with its historic buildings, high street stores and individual shops, theatres, excellent grammar and private schools, universities, bars and restaurants as well as the high speed train to London in under an hour. Alternatively you can drive to Ashford International where the high speed train time to St Pancras is 36 minutes.
